BIGINN ClusterXchange: Nordic Big Science Industry Days

BIGINN Partnership invites SMEs, clusters, research centers, and other scale-up organizations to participate in the 1st “Nordic Big Science Industry Days” (NBSID23) event aimed at bringing European industry and Big Science facilities together to explore commercial possibilities.

Participants will be able to connect with the Nordic Big Science ecosystem, visit European Spallation Source ERIC, @MAX IV Laboratory, leading Danish BigScience sector technological companies, strengthen their knowledge about the role of SMEs in Big Science and learn about commercial opportunities, participate in individualized 1-to-1 meetings and workshops.

Eligible participants will have access to the ClusterXchange mobility scheme’s 550 Eur lump-sum to cover travel and other participation expenses.

What will you do?

The participants will be welcomed at DTI with a networking lunch followed by an introduction to the event and to the participants. The second half of the afternoon will be devoted to new material technologies presented by 4 centres from the materials division at DTI.  
In the evening a networking dinner will be held at DTI to allow the participants to get acquainted.

The day will be dedicated commercial interactions between the visiting companies, ESS and other invited Big Science facilities. The day will consist of the introduction to the Big Science facilities, 3 thematical workshops where a given technical area will be discussed by presenting the facilities needs and the companies’ competences in this given area. Through-out the day 1-to-1 meeting between companies and facilities will be held to explore possible commercial or R&D opportunities.  

In the evening a poster-session presenting the participating companies will be held together with a reception.

Day three will be dedicated to visiting ESS and MAX-IV – two Big Science facilities located in Lund, Sweden.  The visits will include an introduction to the facilities, and their scientific goal as well as a visit to the actual facility. 

A dinner will be arranged in the evening for the participants that stays for the 4th day.

The first and second days will take place at the Danish Technological Institute (DTI) in
Høje Taastrup, Denmark:

The third day visiting ESS and MAX-IV will take place in Lund, Sweden and there will be
arranged common transportation by bus from Thon Partner Hotel at Høje Taastrup train
station.

After the visit participants can be dropped off at the Copenhagen Airport
(around 17:00) or at the hotel.

We recommend to stay at the Thon Partner Hotel in Høje Taastrup where we have
reserved a number of rooms. For booking please write an email to

rate.

The Thon Partner hotel is located at the train station in Høje Taastrup which can easily
be reached from Copenhagen Airport by train (via Copenhagen main station).

The Thon Partner hotel is located near DTI where the program takes place Tuesday and
Wednesday and can be reached either by foot (20-25min walk) or by bus.

In case hotels in Copenhagen is preferred Høje Taastrup train station can easily be
reached by train from Copenhagen.

Who can participate?

Everyone. But in order to receive a financial support of 550 €, an eligible entity should be from from COSME country (excl. Denmark , in this event) which is:

  • A cluster or similar business network organization
  • A scaling-up support organization (technology centre, research institute, fab-lab, resource-efficiency service provider, [digital] innovation hub, creative hub, incubator, or accelerator) that is a cluster or a similar business network organisation member
  • A small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) that is a cluster or a similar business network organisation member
  • Have not participated in ClusterXchange mobility scheme
